Sawatdii krab,
It took some time to give this blog a second life, but here I am again, this time live from Bangkok, city of smiles. However, before you start thinking, Flemish isn't good enough anymore for mister Steven. I would like to apologize, but as more and more people without the knowledge of our beautiful language want to hear my stories, I' ll make this blog a mixture of both languages.
A week has past on by, a week, so quick and slow at the same time, and people wondering, where is he?
Well, I'll make a quick summary, I'll rush trough it so you kind of feel the same as how I experienced it, in real life...
So there I go, the plane is leaving, Leaving for Chennai, India. someone is sitting on my spot? seems that she was wrong, but no big deal, I'll just take her spot. And that brings me next to a Canadian expat living in Chennai. We spend some time talking, she invited me if I would ever come to India, she was really interested in my trip, reason one for the language switch. During the flight, no sleeping, Bollywood movies and ijsboerke icecream, what a wonderful combination.
Once I arrived in Singapore, first thing I noticed in the MRT (Mass Rapid Transportation) the signs with the fines you should pay when you do something wrong. quite high I have to say.
once I arrived in the hostel, the hostel owner tells me that I can only enter the room around 3PM. I didn't sleep for about 20h at that time and I could use some rest. damn. stupid hostel... However, by the time I came back from my zomby style walk trough town (one should do something if you cant sleep...) I meet some guys and together with the hostel owner, we go for some food. seems that he pays and we end up drinking some beers till late that evening on the rooftop terrace. well, who needs sleep? and about the hostel, I defenitly changed my mind :-) Jonathan, your the best!
Second day I meet two Couchsurfing friends, good times, they show me some of the more fancy part of town and a crazy water/lazer show. pretty nice...
With 4 of the hostel we plan to go on towards Kuala Lumpur, Great, we can meet up there again, or that was the plan... Katrin (traveling 1,5 years now) goes by plane, Aussi DJ guy takes an other bus and me and Jane (Traveling 2 years) end up in an empty bus. but he takes off to KL, so that's good. once there, we got kind of lost, I took a picture of the map where the hostel should be, but it seemed not correct. A friendly man drove us around for half an hour to find the place, but we didn't find it. in the end we took another hostel, POD's, great place, but a bit expensive. However, good for the night. About KL the first night was the best, from the moment we arrived we got envolved in the streetlife, indians all over the place, even without being in little india... what a difference with Singapore, this city is still from the people...streetlife isn't taken away by rules and fines, here you still can breathe, even tough the air is a bit more polluted. I like it! But than a difficult decision comes up. Katrin goes to Palau Kapas, a tropical island on the east coast of Malaysia, she leaves the next day. And yes, I want to see those Islands, but I want to stay in KL for some time as well...Dilemma, Around 1AM I decided to join, a good thing, cause the Island was really worth it! tropical beaches, amazing clear water, and yes, I saw Nemo! It was the end
of season, so there where almost no other tourists, so, island for ourselves...crazy. At night, we find some other lads who brought some bottles of whiskey and Vodka from the mainland, a good thing, cause the east coast of Malaysia was really really Muslim minded, and yes, no alcohol on the island. but that got solved, and with the drinking games who came along, it became another fun night.
Being on a tropical island is nice, something you have to do in your life, but I just can't hang in a hammock for more than one day, I got stressed from doing nothing, I have to be on the go, so after that one day, I left again. Left the Islanders, Left Katrin behind and up to a new adventure.
